The St+Art India Foundation was set up as an initiative to make art more accessible to the public rather than restricting it to the confines of a gallery. This not-for-profit organisation endeavours to display art in public spaces in the form of street art like graffiti, murals and street painting.
What is St+Art BLR all about?
Commencing in 2014, the foundation has organized a street art festival every year in Delhi. This year, it brought the festival to four different cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. St+Art BLR is the Bangalore edition, and the third leg of the festival, taking place from October 1st to the 31st, this year.
There are fifteen Indian and international artists contributing towards the murals, installations and performances in St+Art BLR 2016 including Appupen, Anpu, Guesswho, Inkbrushnme and Shilo. These artists are currently busy working on making Bangalore a more vibrant city and we wanted to give you readers a preview of the street art while the work is still in progress.
These artists are incredibly talented and we owe it to them to respect their work by not mutilating it merely because it is on the streets, but instead, appreciate the good riddance of the ghastly paan stains on the walls and their efforts to make the city a more artistic one. Take a walk between the MG Road, Cubbon Park and Majestic metro stations and you might just be surprised with something bright and quirky on the walls.
You can follow St+Art India on social media to catch up on all their work.
