The Copyright Societies Monograph (more fondly, CSM) has been Artistik License’s baby this past year (grown in a petri dish, of course). This monograph is the outcome of numerous reports and cases surrounding Indian licensing and royalty collecting bodies, prompted by a general lack of awareness on these issues, amongst artists and lawyers alike.
Artistik License’s research associate, Tarini Siddhartha, along with one of our interns, Dipti Janardhan, and our hawk-eyed editor, Aman Mahajan, have worked hard on gathering this information and presenting it to you in a useful and reader-friendly document.
Wait, there’s more!
We decided to go one step ahead and do a comparative study between the licensing bodies of India and those of eight other countries—France, UK, USA, Brazil, Mexico, Israel, Singapore and Japan—and have included some expert recommendations too, in an effort to provoke some productive thought on these matters.
In addition, the CSM is being released under a Creative Commons 4.0 license, because we believe in open access. We hope you’re as excited as we are. You can click the image below to have a first glimpse at the scope of the entire project.
Stay tuned for more updates!
